Originally, I forged my first snail as part of three sculptures for an exhibition held in the Bishops Palace Gardens, Wells, Somerset. A friend dropped by the forge whilst I was busy forging it and commented that ‘I was making a Brian’. A what? was my reply. You know, Brian, as in the Magic Roundabout! Since that day, all my snails have been given names beginning with the letter ‘B’.
Over the years, with Brian featuring on my business card, customers have asked for a snail. Whether it be a single one for indoor display, one or a group featuring on a stone for the garden, or indeed added to hand rails or a garden arch.
